Bengaluru, April 29 -- Fresh political speculation over a leadership change in Karnataka resurfaced on Wednesday after Congress MLA Iqbal Hussain claimed that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar would assume the Chief Minister's post by May 15, drawing sharp reactions from the BJP.

Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy mocked the repeated predictions surrounding the Chief Minister's post, saying similar claims had surfaced many times in the past without any outcome.

"See, on many occasions they have fixed dates, times, everything, but nothing has happened. With these MLAs, they cannot do anything. So we will see what happens," he told reporters in Bengaluru.
