New Delhi, Feb. 24 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Vijender Gupta has been elected as the Speaker of the Delhi Assembly on Monday.
As the first session of the Assembly began on Monday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta proposed the name of Vijender Gupta for the Speaker's post, and it was supported by Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
The second proposal for electing Gupta as Speaker was made by Cabinet Minister Ravindra Indraj and supported by Minister Parvesh Verma.
BJP MLA Kulwant Rana also supported the proposal to elect Gupta as Assembly Speaker.
The house unanimously approved the proposal for electing Vijendra Gupta as the Speaker of the Assembly.
