Patna, Oct. 11 -- In a major political development ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Mishri Lal Yadav, the sitting MLA from Alinagar constituency in Darbhanga district, today resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing the party of neglecting the poor, Dalits, and backward communities.

Announcing his resignation at a press conference, Yadav said that there is no respect for the poor and backward classes in the BJP.

The party has never worked for Dalits or backward people, he alleged and claimed to have always stood for the dignity and rights of the poor as he follows socialist and secular ideology.
