Srinagar, Oct. 14 -- BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in the J&K Assembly Sunil Sharma today demanded an apology from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for what he described as a "deeply insulting" remark against non-NC legislators.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Sharma said the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, scheduled for October 24, are a relatively small contest with only 88 voters and four seats at stake.

He noted that all major parties - including the ruling National Conference (NC) and the opposition BJP - have fielded their candidates.

"The BJP is in opposition. There are candidates from the ruling National Conference.. We will fight, and we are hopeful that our candidates will win," he said.
