Thane, Sept. 13 -- In a major political development ahead of the local body elections, Manoj Rane, the State Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party's Labour Front, quit the BJP and joined the Eknath Shinde-led faction of the Shiv Sena along with hundreds of workers.
Rane said he has begun working under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Minister Pratap Sarnaik and Nitesh Rane.
Since the last Assembly elections, there has been a steady inflow of leaders from the Maha Vikas Aghadi parties into the ruling Mahayuti alliance.
With local body elections approaching, such crossovers are also taking place between the constituent parties of the alliance, based on local political calculations.
