Hyderabad, Oct. 14 -- The Bharatiya Janata Kisan Morcha (BJKM) has come down heavily on the Congress government in Telangana for its alleged negligence in paddy procurement and failure to support farmers despite a bumper harvest this monsoon.
Addressing a press conference at party state office here today, BJKM State President Basava Lakshmi Narasaiah said that although the government estimated paddy production at 48 lakh metric tonnes, it has not yet opened procurement centres, leaving farmers in distress.
"The monsoon is over, paddy is ready for procurement, but the government's inaction shows its lack of sincerity towards farmers," he said.
