Ashok RainaPalampur (Kangra), May 9 -- Veteran BJP leader and former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar today said that the country and the Bharatiya Janata Party were passing through a "golden era" under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and appealed to voters in Himachal Pradesh to support the BJP in the upcoming Panchayat elections.
Shanta Kumar told UNI today that the BJP has expanded its influence across the country and was currently in power in 20 out of 28 states.
He claimed that nearly 72 percent of the country's population lived in BJP-ruled states and expressed confidence that by 2047, when India completes 100 years of Independence, the nation would emerge before the world as a fully developed country under BJP leadership.
