Jaipur, April 30 -- Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot has accused the state's BJP government of arbitrarily reorganising the Panchayati Raj and urban bodies in the state.

In a statement on Wednesday, Gehlot alleged that the BJP and RSS are trying to win elections by hook or crook, disregarding rules and people's convenience.

Gehlot claimed that the government is ignoring norms, such as minimum and maximum population criteria, and proper distance from headquarters, while reorganising these bodies.

He stated that villages are being added to urban bodies or panchayats without considering the distance, with some villages being 10 km away from the main town.
