Dharamshala, Dec. 25 -- Former Dharamshala Mayor Devendra Jaggi launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led central government, alleging that its policies are anti-poor and anti-labour and are pushing the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) towards abolition.
Criticising the BJP government at the Centre, Jaggi said MNREGA is the backbone of the rural economy, providing employment to the poor and strengthening the Panchayati Raj system through village-level development works. He alleged that curtailing the powers of Gram Sabhas would weaken grassroots democracy and exclude villagers from decision-making.
