Patna, Nov. 21 -- BJP's Samrat Chaudhary got the vital Home Department as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar allocated portfolios among the ministers of the new NDA coalition government on Friday.

This is the first time that Kumar has handed over the Home department to the BJP. Until now, the department has always been with the chief minister.

Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha of the BJP were accorded the state of Deputy Chief Ministers in the Cabinet.

According to a cabinet secretariat notification, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has been given the responsibilities of Home.

Sinha has been assigned Land and Revenue, Mines and Geology.
