Bhopal, July 30 -- The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party faced friendly fire in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly today when its member Pritam Singh Lodhi raised the demand of making Pichhore a separate district by carving it out of Shivpuri.



During the Question Hour, Lodhi sought to know what measures the government was taking for making Pichhore as a new district.



"At an assembly election rally in Pichhore, the then chief minister said, You give me a legislator and I shall give you a district.'," he observed.



Responding to the member, Revenue Minister Karan Singh Verma denied that any chief minister made any such announcement and added that creation of a district takes place according to a procedure.
