Mangaluru, Aug. 17 -- A high-level delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Karnataka unit president Vijayendra Yediyurappa, today visited the sacred Dharmasthala temple in Dakshina Kannada district and offered prayers to Lord Manjunatheshwara.

The visit came against the backdrop of what the party has described as "a sustained campaign of misinformation" against the historic religious institution.

Accompanying Vijayendra were Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, several BJP MPs, legislators from the coastal belt, members of the Legislative Council, and state and district-level office-bearers of the party.
