Ranchi, Dec. 22 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday defended the Centre's new rural employment vision, alleging that the Congress was opposed to development and public welfare, while announcing a series of Atal Smriti Sammelans across Jharkhand to mark the birth centenary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Addressing the media after an organisational meeting here, state working president and MP Aditya Sahu said the proposed employment framework was aligned with the national vision of a developed India by 2047 and aimed to address present-day rural needs through greater transparency and monitoring.
