Nagpur, Feb. 17 -- In a violent incident in Nagpur, Maharashtra, the husband of a newly elected corporator from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was allegedly stabbed following a dispute, police said on Monday.

According to police, the attack took place on Sunday night within the jurisdiction of the Kotwali Police Station.

The accused, Mahesh alias Sonu Ganesh Thackeray (35), is alleged to have assaulted Nitin Sham Shimle (39), who is the husband of BJP corporator Manasi Shimle.

According to officials, the two men had been involved in a long-standing dispute.
