Aizawl, Sept. 18 -- Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today conducted a cleanliness drive in and around the newly inaugurated Sairang railway station as part of the ongoing Seva Pakhwada programme.

Senior party leaders and a large number of volunteers actively participated in the initiative.

In a statement issued after the drive, the BJP expressed concern that the station-barely days afterits inauguration-was already strewn with garbage.

"Development must go hand in hand with cleanliness. It is disheartening that the railway station is littered so soon after its opening. We need to reflect on this," the statement read.
