Bengaluru, April 6 -- The BJP on Monday claimed that the Congress is on the back foot in the run-up to the April 9 by-elections in Karnataka, alleging that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's repeated visits to the poll-bound regions reflect "fear" of defeat.

In Bagalkote, former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said Siddaramaiah's multiple visits indicate the ruling party's anxiety over the outcome.

"Siddaramaiah has visited here four to five times, which suggests that he fears losing in the by-election," he told reporters, expressing confidence that the BJP would secure victory in both Bagalkote and Davanagere South constituencies.
