Bengaluru, March 25 -- The BJP has accused Karnataka's Energy Minister and senior officials of misleading the Assembly and the public about the BESCOM Smart Meters Tender pricing and the selection process.
The BJP claims that the tender was manipulated to favour a single company, Rajashree Electricals, and alleges that the financial loss to the state was over Rs 15,000 crore.
The government insists that the tender was awarded at competitive rates, lower than those in other states. However, the BJP alleges that the price is more than double compared to similar projects elsewhere.
