Hyderabad, Feb. 10 -- The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday strongly condemned what it described as intimidation by the ruling Congress following the death of its Makthal municipal candidate on the eve of the elections.
The party alleged that sustained threats and pressure from Congress leaders drove the candidate to take the extreme step.
In a media statement, BJP Chief Spokesperson and State Media In-charge N V Subhash said Yerukala Mahadevappa, BJP candidate from Ward No 6 of Makthal Municipality and a member of the tribal community, was allegedly subjected to continuous intimidation by Congress functionaries.
