Lucknow, Oct. 21 -- The BJP and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have condemned Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav's statement on Diwali, saying he has no right to insult Hindu traditions.
In the crosshairs was SP chief's suggestion that India should "learn" from the way cities celebrate Christmas has been strongly criticised by the BJP and VHP.
A BJP state spokesperson said, "Akhilesh's statement on lighting lamps is influenced by the DMK's stance on the "eradication of Sanatan Dharma" and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's comments on Hinduism.
