Bhubaneswar, March 11 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to conduct periodic "process audits" of the entire election process through independent auditors or the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).
In a memorandum submitted to the ECI, the party stated that the audit report should be made public, as is done in several democratic countries.
The memorandum, signed by Chairman of the BJD Coordination and Activities Committee, Devi Prasad Mishra, along with the party's Rajya Sabha MPs, requested the ECI to develop a mechanism for involving citizen groups to co-monitor the election process from inception to completion.
