Bhubaneswar, Sept. 23 -- The Odisha Assembly gherao agitation, led by the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and supported by panchayat representatives across the state, turned violent today as demonstrators clashed with police while attempting to march towards the Assembly.
The Mahatma Gandhi Marg, the site of the protest, quickly became a battleground as BJD supporters broke through police barricades. In response, security forces used water cannons and declared the gathering unlawful.
