Bhubaneswar, March 19 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has expressed grave concern over the rising incidents of atrocities against tribal women and minor girls across Odisha and has sought urgent intervention from the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) in New Delhi.
In a memorandum submitted to the Commission, the party highlighted a deeply disturbing incident that occurred on March 12, 2026, under the jurisdiction of Tiring Police Station near Bahalda Market in Bhinjhua village of Mayurbhanj district.
A 14-year-old tribal girl was allegedly molested in the incident, triggering widespread outrage among local tribal communities.
