Bhubaneswar, Oct. 11 -- BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik today indicated that the party may approach the Supreme Court if necessary, challenging the Odisha government's decision to curtail the administrative powers of elected panchayat representatives.

Patnaik made the statement during a meeting with chairpersons of over fifty panchayat committees at Naveen Niwas.

The chairpersons raised concerns about the state government's arbitrary actions, which they said were limiting the administrative and financial authority of elected panchayat officials.

Condemning the undemocratic measures, Patnaik said that BJD's fight to protect the constitutional rights of elected panchayat representatives would continue.
