Bhubaneswar, Jan. 5 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday expressed serious concern over a deadly explosion at a stone/dolomite mine in Gopalpur village, in Odisha's Dhenkanal district, that killed two workers on Saturday. The party demanded the government take immediate action, arrest those responsible for the illegal blasting, and hold accountable all parties involved.

BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty said the tragedy occurred on Saturday evening when workers were engaged in stone extraction and exploration at the quarry, resulting in two deaths and injuries to several others.
