Dharamshala, Oct. 10 -- Former Industries Minister Bikram Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Himachal Pradesh government, alleging that the Congress administration has "completely surrendered politically" by conspiring to delay the Panchayat elections.
He said the government is using disaster management as an excuse to postpone the polls, and shifting the blame onto officials.
Thakur claimed it is "deeply unfortunate" that Deputy Commissioners are being directed to send letters to the Secretary of the Panchayati Raj Department, suggesting that elections be postponed under the Disaster Management Act.
"This is a direct attack on democracy and exposes the government's mindset of running away from public accountability," he added.
