Patna, Aug. 6 -- Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha today announced the rollout of the "Dragon Fruit Development Scheme" across 23 districts to encourage cultivation of dragon fruit for improving the income of small and marginal farmers.

Sinha told news persons here that under the scheme, the state government approved a total budget of Rs 1.26 crore for a two-year period (2025-26 and 2026-27). For the financial year 2025-26, Rs 76.14 lakh has been sanctioned for immediate implementation of the scheme.

Sinha stated that the objective of the scheme was to expand the area under dragon fruit cultivation and to ensure sustainable income growth for farmers.
