Patna, July 22 -- The Bihar Legislative Council was today adjourned within 22 minutes of its convening following a ruckus over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision ( SIR) of the voter list in the state.

Soon after the House assembled, opposition members strongly protested against SIR and insisted the chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh accept the adjournment motion notice moved by them.

RJD member Abdul Bari Siddiqui asked the chairman to allow him to at least read the adjournment motion notice in the House. The chairman, however, said a notice was already rejected under the rules of the House, hence was not included in the enlisted business for the day. He suggested Siddiqui consult the rules in case he disagreed.
