Patna, Feb. 12 -- Bihar Energy Minister Bijendra Yadav on Thursday assured the state Assembly that the government will consider waiving compound interest being charged on pending electricity bills.
Replying to a call attention raised by MLA Shubhanand Mukesh, the minister said the state government would examine the possibility of waiving the compound interest component. He clarified that consumers who use electricity will have to pay the bills.
During the discussion, several legislators expressed concern over the growing burden of arrears and compound interest, stating that it has become difficult for economically weaker consumers to clear dues.
