Bihar election schedule likely to be announced this evening

Patna, Oct. 6 -- The Election Commission (EC) is likely to announce the schedule for the Bihar Assembly elections this evening, marking the formal commencement of the election process and enforcement of the model code of conduct in the state.

The term of the 17th Bihar Legislative Assembly is due to end on November 22. The political temperature in Bihar has been rising steadily with all major parties gearing up for the crucial contest.

Sources at the election office said here today that the Commission may conduct polling across all 243 Assembly constituencies in two phases this time.
