Patna, Oct. 4 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded that the Election Commission conduct the Bihar Assembly elections in a single phase.

The state unit of the BJP presented its 16-point suggestions before the Commission during a meeting of political parties yesterday, reiterating its call for single-phase polling.

After the meeting, BJP leader Jaiswal told news-persons here that the party had formally raised the demand for holding the elections in one phase.

Expressing dissatisfaction over polling stations located near religious places, he said that despite repeated complaints, such booths have not been shifted for the last 30 years.
