Patna, March 6 -- Bihar government announced in the state assembly that 87 percent of the target set for paddy procurement in the current financial year has been achieved.
While replying to a short-noticed question of BJP member Amrendra Pratap Singh, Bihar Cooperative minister Prem Kumar said during the pre-lunch sitting on Thursday that against the target of 45 lakh metric tons 13 lakh 23000 metric ton paddy have been procured till February 15 which is 87 percent of the target.
He said in the last financial year 66 percent of the target set for paddy procurement was achieved.
Kumar said that the payments were directly sent to the accounts of 463000 farmers within 48 hours.
