Samastipur, June 25 -- A total of three policemen were suspended with immediate effect for dereliction of their duties in connection with an accused escaping out of police custody involved in the bank loot case of Maharashtra Bank in Samastipur district of Bihar.
Police said here today that jewellery worth crores of rupees was looted from the Kashipur branch of the Bank of Maharashtra under the Bidupur police station area in Samastipur district.
One accused, Chandu Paswan, arrested in this connection on June 20, had escaped from police custody, taking advantage of the slackness of policemen on duty, convincing them to free him to attend a call of the nature for a few minutes, police added.
