Purnia, July 7 -- In a horrifying incident, five members of a family were brutally murdered and their bodies burnt by villagers who suspected a woman of being a witch in Bihar's Purnia district, police said here today.
As per preliminary police reports, the incident took place in Tetagama village under Muffasil police station area after a conflict over traditional witchcraft practices (jhaad-phoonk), allegedly involving members of the local tribal community.
Police Superintendent Sweety Sahrawat was camping at the site along with other senior officers.
