Bhubaneswar, Aug. 24 -- In a move to streamline its operations and promote environmental sustainability, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has initiated a rational discarding process for its old and dilapidated vehicles, an official said on Sunday.

The dismantling of old and unfit vehicles are being done under the Vehicle Scrappage Policy 2021. A total of 28 vehicles, including tippers, excavators, loaders, ambulances, and tractors, have been identified for disposal. These vehicles have either completed more than 15 years' life span from the date of registration or covered over 2,50,000 kilometers, rendering them non-roadworthy.
