New Delhi, Sept. 13 -- A special Central Bureau of Investigation court in Lucknow sentenced Rajesh Kumar, a senior assistant (clerk) with the Varanasi Sanitary and Support Services at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), to five years in jail in a bribe case.
Kumar had demanded Rs 75,000 from a man to release the death benefits owed to him after his father's death. The court, while awarding the sentence, also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him.
According to the CBI's FIR, Kumar demanded the bribe from the complainant to process and release the death benefits of his late father, Kalloo, who was employed as a sweeper at BHU and had died while in service.
