New Delhi, Oct. 10 -- The Supreme Court today extended the interim medical bail granted to Mahesh Sitaram Raut, an accused in the Bhima Koregaon Elgar Parishad case, till November 26.
Raut was arrested in 2018 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA), for his alleged Maoist links.
A Bench comprising Justice M.M. Sundresh and Justice Satish Kumar Sharma, which had earlier granted Raut six weeks' interim bail on September 16 on medical grounds, ordered the extension after taking note of his continuing health condition. Raut has been in custody since June 2018.
During previous hearings, Senior Advocate C.U. Singh, appearing for Raut, informed the Court that the accused suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis, an autoimmune diso...
