New Delhi, May 5 -- Punjab's political battle over defections escalated on Tuesday as Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met President Droupadi Murmu and demanded the immediate cancellation of the Rajya Sabha membership of what he termed "Punjab de Gaddar" MPs who recently switched allegiance to the BJP.
In a major show of political unity, Mann arrived in Delhi along with all AAP MLAs from Punjab and submitted a memorandum signed by the legislators at Rashtrapati Bhavan, alleging that the defections amounted to a "murder of democracy" and a betrayal of Punjab's mandate.
