Bengaluru, Sept. 19 -- An overnight downpour has caused major disruption across Bengaluru, leading to widespread waterlogging in low-lying areas and bringing city traffic to a standstill.

The downpour heavily impacted low-lying areas such as KR Puram, Majestic, Silk Board, RR Nagar, Koramangala, and Hesarghatta, which were heavily waterlogged.

Several arterial roads were submerged, leaving commuters stranded for hours. Up-rooted trees, clogged stormwater drains, and a worsening of potholes compounded the congestion in southern and western zones of the city.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded 65.5 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 5:30 a.m., with the city's Automatic Weather Station (AWS) registering 66 mm. Heavy sh...
