Kolkata, Oct. 30 -- In an effort to address the issue of multiple big-budget Bengali films releasing on the same day and sharing screens, two apex bodies connected with the regional cinema today framed new rules, including making it mandatory for producers to inform in advance about their project release plans.

The Eastern India Motion Pictures Association (EIMPA) and the Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India deliberated on the issue during the day before jointly announcing the new guidelines.

In a key decision, they asked producers to inform EIMPA about their film release plans in advance, and said the release dates will be determined by the number of films a producer releases in a year.
