Siliguri, March 23 -- In a significant administrative move ahead of the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, newly appointed Siliguri Police Commissioner Syed Waquar Raza on Monday initiated comprehensive measures to ensure the Ram Navami processions scheduled for March 27 are conducted peacefully across the city.

Commissioner Raza informed reporters that five companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CPMF) will be deployed during the celebrations to maintain law and order. The decision comes amid expectations of unusually large participation this year.
