Bengal: Massive fire breaks out at Dhapa
Kolkata, April 26 -- A massive fire broke out at Dhapa, along the Basanti Highway, city's eastern fringe area, destroying scores of godowns stacked with plastic, tyre and other inflammable articles on Saturday even as some 15 fire fighting vehicles were pressed into service to combat the flames.
The fire sparked out following the blast of an electrical transformer and the flames spread rapidly following gusty winds in the locality under Pragati Maidan Police station.
There had been no report of any casualty in the massive fire, which caused the temperature very high, fire brigade sources added.
West Bengal Fire Brigade minister Sujit Bose as many as 15 firefighting vehicles were pressed into services to douse the flames.
