Kolkata, May 15 -- Thousands of dismissed teachers, on Thursday, laid siege to Bikash Bhavan, the West Bengal Education Department headquarters, at New Town, demanding their reinstatement even as RAF and Armed Policemen were seen guarding all four entry gates, official sources said.
The dismissed teachers' protest was against the termination of their jobs, following the Supreme Court order regarding irregularities in the 2016 recruitment process.
The teachers were dismissed by an order of the Calcutta High Court, which was upheld by the Supreme Court. The High Court cancelled the recruitment of the entire 2016 panel affecting some 26,000 teachers in the government-aided schools following an alleged cash-for-jobs scam for which the then E...
