Kolkata, May 15 -- Thousands of dismissed teachers, on Thursday, laid siege to Bikash Bhavan, the West Bengal Education Department headquarters, at New Town, demanding their reinstatement even as RAF and Armed Policemen were seen guarding all four entry gates, official sources said.

The dismissed teachers' protest was against the termination of their jobs, following the Supreme Court order regarding irregularities in the 2016 recruitment process.
