Siliguri, March 6 -- In a major step towards improving transparency and boosting revenue collection, the Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad has proposed a comprehensive digital platform titled "Haat Management Application" to streamline the administration of haats, bazaars and market complexes across the district.
At present, the Parishad manages 31 haats and market complexes, where stalls and spaces are leased for commercial, residential and mixed uses, while weekly tax collection rights are granted through ijara.
However, the entire process - from surveys and licensing to rent collection and renewal - is currently handled manually, often resulting in operational delays, staff shortages and revenue leakages.
