Kolkata, April 16 -- A four-member team of the National Commission for Women (NCW), headed by chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, is expected to visit West Bengal's Murshidabad and Malda
districts this week following the violent Waqf protests, which left three people dead and forced hundreds to flee their homes to escape the violence, sources said.
The violence and arson also prompted the Calcutta High Court to direct deployment of Central armed forces in Murshidabad.
The NWC after taking suo moto cognisance of the Murshidabad violence, on Wednesday constituted a four-member committee to visit Malda and Murshidabad on April 18 and 19 respectively.
