Kolkata, March 3 -- Notwithstanding the presence of baton-wielding security personnel armed with tear gas shells, the Jadavpur University campus remained almost empty on Monday in response to a day-long strike in colleges and universities across West Bengal called by the Students' Federation of India (SFI) and AIDSO.
SFI, the students wing of the CPI(M), and All India Democratic Students Organisation, the student wing of the SUCI (C), are demanding the resignation of state Education Minister Bratya Basu following an incident at Jadavpur University that left two protesting students injured on Saturday evening.
