Birbhum, April 23 -- The polls in West Bengal's Birbhum district passed today with few incidents of trouble reported, amid unprecedented high voting percentage recorded.

An elderly person died due to heart attack in the district headquarters, Siuri, while going to cast his vote.

Birbhum has been a troublesome district on polling day in the past, but this time, some stray incidents were reported from the 11 assembly seats here.

Ashim Roy (64) of Dangalpara in Birbhum district, who was going to cast his vote in number 10 ward in Siuri Municipality, died after a heart attack.
