Bengal Police Sub-Inspector allegedly shot dead his parents and attempted to kill himself

Kolkata, Sept. 4 -- A Police Sub-Inspector attached to the West Bengal Police in the Jhargram district of the Jangal Mahal area allegedly shot dead his parents, both father and mother, and then attempted to kill himself with his service revolver last night, official sources said today.

SI Jaydev Chatterjee (32) was admitted to a nearby hospital and is fighting for life with a bullet injury on his throat.

The police officer, attached to the Jangal Mahal Battalion, allegedly shot his father, Debabrata Chatterjee (62), and mother, Shampa Chatterjee (50), dead and then attempted to kill himself at midnight last night at their rented home near the police line area in Jangal Mahal, official sources said.
