Kolkata, Oct. 6 -- On the day when West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was in North Bengal to oversee relief and rescue operations in the flood-hit areas, BJP leaders engaged in relief work were allegedly attacked , leaving North Malda MP Khagen Murmu injured.

The attack, which the BJP has squarely blamed on ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) "goons", has triggered a fresh political storm in the state.

According to reports, Murmu, a two-time BJP MP and prominent tribal leader, was on his way to Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri's Dooars region to distribute relief materials among flood- and landslide-affected residents when his convoy came under attack.
