Kolkata, Feb. 27 -- West Bengal's ruling Trinamool Congress on Friday announced the candidature of state minister Babul Supriyo, former state police chief Rajeev Kumar, Menaka Guruswamy and Koel Mallick for the March 16 Rajya Sabha elections.
Five seats from the state are up for grabs in the forthcoming RS polls. The Trinamool Congress has the numerical strength to bag four of these seats, with the Opposition BJP in a position to win the remaining seat.
In a statement, the Trinmaool Congress extended its congratulations and best wishes to the nominees, expressing hope that they would continue to uphold the party's legacy of resilience and its commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of every Indian.
