Kolkata, Sept. 20 -- West Bengal minister Chandranath Sinha today appeared before a special court in the city for his alleged involvement in the teachers recruitment scam in government schools in 2016, court sources said.

The Enforcement Directorate, probing the money trails of several hundreds crore of rupees in the scam is seeking Sinha's custodial interrogation in the larger aspects to the teachers appointment irregularities in which several dozen people were being interrogated or arrested.

The ED lawyer already submitted in the special court on Tuesday that the agency had come across more properties in Birbhum linked to the jail minister and wanted to question him in custody.
